Kennedy Walker Lodging (option) We have negotiated a simple discounted rate that you can take advantage of.

  1. The Clarion Inn in Harpers Ferry has setup a group block of rooms at a discounted rate under the name "Kennedy 50 mile walk".

  2. Please call the hotel directly at (304) 535-6302 and ask for the group name in order to make your reservations.

  3. The rooms being held are standard rooms non-smoking with two queen beds.

  4. You may make your reservations for either one night or two nights 2/8-2/10 at the discounted rate of $79.00 per night plus tax. This rate includes complimentary hot breakfast served each day in the hotel's breakfast dining room.

  5. The discounted rate has been extended by the hotel. In fact, you may add days before or after at the discounted rate. (the 1/8/19 expiration date no longer applies. See hotel for discount policy)

Traveling FROM Washington DC

Take the George Washington Parkway north for about 10 miles to I-495 then take the I-270 exit East for 30 miles to Frederick. Exit to Route 70 west for 2 miles then to Route 340. Continue west for 20 miles. Look for service road to access the hotel.. About 67 miles total. Allow at least an hour and a half.

Traveling by mass transit

If you are using mass transit to go directly to Harpers Ferry, on Friday 2/8/19 there is a 4:25 MARC train scheduled to leave Union Station arriving at Harpers Ferry at 6:05 pm. Keep in mind that we will be running a shuttle service to Union Station on Sunday, a spot which you must reserve. On Sunday, February 10 there is an Amtrak train leaving at 11:31 to Union Station as an alternative.

Starting Point Directions


Traveling FROM Washington DC

If you are driving to the start or are getting a ride, take the George Washington Parkway north for about 10 miles to I-495 then take the Clara Barton Parkway to MacArthur Boulevard. About 15 miles total. Allow at least a half-hour for travel.

Traveling by mass transit

If you are using mass transit, our advice is use the Metro subway or express bus services to the Bethesda Metro Center. Many inexpensive bus lines will pickup and drop off here. You may need to catch an Uber or cab to take you 9 miles to the start. After the event, we have our Saturday night shuttle and Sunday shuttle stopping here as a drop off point.
